About the Gourmet Guide Awards
Held annually in Cape Town at the end of October, the Gourmet Guide Awards celebrate the very best of South African dining. The guide began with 21 restaurants and has now reached its carefully considered limit of the best 50 restaurants in the country.
Every restaurant is assessed through a rigorous and anonymous judging process, complemented by the views of discerning diners and peer reviews from fellow chefs.
“I feel privileged to be entrusted with benchmarking South African restaurants against global standards. Measured against the very best internationally, our leading chefs, and restauranteurs hold their own.” — Jenny Handley, Founder
