The Peech was originally a private residence built in 1950’s and a family home for more than 40 years. Purchased by James Peech in 2002, and first opening it’s doors as The Peech Hotel in 2004, the property has since been restored and developed to become Johannesburg’s most iconic boutique hotel, offering five different room types, two restaurants and two acres of lush gardens.
Sandton, the city’s business & shopping hub, is ten minutes away. Rosebank (nearest Gautrain) & Melrose Arch are five minutes. Johannesburg International airport is 45 minutes by car.
The hotel is opposite the James Gray Park and adjacent to the Wanderers International Cricket Stadium.
Bistro restaurant, wine cellar & private dining room
A backpacking trip from Bangkok to Bali inspired James to leave his corporate job and become an entrepreneur. In 2004, he bought a heritage residence in Johannesburg and founded The Peech Hotel. Over the years it has grown it to be voted as the 'Best City Boutique Hotel in Africa'.
