The Peech was originally a private residence built in 1950’s and a family home for more than 40 years. Purchased by James Peech in 2002, and first opening it’s doors as The Peech Hotel in 2004, the property has since been restored and developed to become Johannesburg’s most iconic boutique hotel, offering four different room types, two restaurants and lush gardens spread across two acres.
Sandton, the city’s business & shopping hub, is ten minutes away. Rosebank (nearest Gautrain) & Melrose Arch are five minutes. Johannesburg International airport is 45 minutes by car.
The hotel is opposite the James Gray Park and adjacent to the Wanderers International Cricket Stadium.

A backpacking trip from Bangkok to Bali inspired James to leave his corporate job and become an entrepreneur. In 2004, he bought a heritage property in Johannesburg and started creating The Peech Hotel. The rest is history!
With a post-grad diploma in Tourism Marketing and a passion for hospitality and people, Vicky moved to SA in 2008 (having fallen in love with the owner James). She now heads our Sales & Marketing.
With a wealth of hospitality experience acquired over more than 2 decades, Gabrielle’s strong business acumen, passion for nurturing talent and enhancing our guest experience is a huge asset to The Peech.
Douglas began his career in the Peech's first Bistro restaurant as a waiter. He has worked his way up through various departments to be in charge of our reservations.
